Mock up watercolor mounted overall on laminar, grey board used for testing methods of backing removal
Some areas were reduced with mechanical action only using a bookbinders knife. Steam was tested to see if it would affect the water color.

Backing was reduced mostly mechanically, with some localized moisture in the beginning. All of these mockups helped inform my treatment of the 1832 USA map.
Wallpaper panels from Coutts Bank, London had multiple layers of poor quality lining papers.
After the panels were humidified overall, I worked mechanically to reduce the lining papers down to the original Asian paper lining.
